Reel America: "The Army Nurse" - 1945. According to this 1945 War Department film, 57,000 women served as Army nurses during World War II. Produced by the Army Signal Corps for the Treasury Department, this short film was released at the end of 1945 to help sell Victory Bonds to finance the care of wounded servicemen, and to show the critical role played by nurses during and after the conflict.
