House Democratic Agenda
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) and other members of the Democratic caucus held a news conference from Capitol Hill on the legislative agenda. Speaker Pelosi criticized the Trump administration's response to the coronavirus pandemic, saying the country needed a more centralized plan to conduct testing, contact tracing, isolation, and treatment. The speaker also defended the resolution passed by the House earlier in the month that allows some members to vote by proxy, the first time in history the practice had been permitted. Additionally, Speaker Pelosi urged her colleagues to approve the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) reauthorization bill, which was to be voted on later that day.
