Vice President Pence at Coronavirus Task Force Briefing
Vice President Mike Pence and several members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force held a briefing at the Department of Education on reopening schools and the coming guidelines set out by the Centers for Disease Control. Earlier in the day, President Trump took issue with the CDC guidelines, tweeting, “I disagree with CDC on their very tough and expensive guidelines for opening schools.” CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield said the “recommendations are not requirements and they are not meant to be prescriptive.” Other questions focused on the latest updates on the surge in Arizona, California, Florida and Texas, and what the protocol would be for testing children.
