Trump’s Potterville visit: What we know right now
August 28, 2024
POTTERVILLE, Mich. (WLNS) — Former President Donald Trump will speak at Alro Steel just outside the city of Potterville on Thursday. However, there are scant details on where anyone can see the Republican candidate’s motorcade or what traffic issues the motorcade may cause in the Capital region.
Potterville Mayor Jennifer Lenneman told 6 News city, county, state and federal law enforcement have been planning since last Friday for the former president’s visit.
“As far as the motorcade goes, we don’t know what the route is going to be,” Lenneman told 6 News. “We don’t know when exactly the times he will be coming in for it. And so it’s just whenever it happens is when that road is going to get closed down. So we do know Lansing Rd. will be closed, they made it public last night that Lansing Rd. will be closed between between Lake Alliance and Royston Rd.”
Lansing Road will be closed not only to vehicle traffic but to pedestrians as well. The Potterville Police Department made that announcement Tuesday night on social media.
The Federal Aviation Administration shows a VIP airspace restriction over the capital region starting at 1 p.m. Thursday that extends down to Potterville along the I-69 corridor. That airspace restriction is expected to continue until 4:30 p.m.
