Burial of Pearl Harbor Casualty David Walker. Mess Attendant 3rd Class David Walker of Virginia -- a 19-year-old African American sailor killed on the USS California during the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 -- was buried at Arlington National Cemetery with military honors. His remains were recently identified, more than 80 years after his death. Over 100 sailors and Marines lost their lives on the California.
