Facebook, Google and Twitter Executives on Russian Disinformation
Twitter, Facebook, and Google officials testified at a hearing on social media and Russian influence in the 2016 elections. The hearing was part of an ongoing investigation by several congressional committees into Russia’s actions in the election. Issues were raised at this hearing included the security measures each company was taking to handle fake accounts and the results of their investigations into false advertisements. Topics included Russian use of false advertising and micro-targeting, and suggestions for regulations on web political advertising. The second panel of witnesses answered questions on how terrorist organizations were using social media to spread hate and violence.

In a 232-196 vote, the House debated and passed a resolution laying out the rules in the impeachment inquiry of President Trump, including public hearings, and rights for the president and minority party. Voting for the measure were all but two Democrats, Representatives Jeff Van Drew (D-NJ) and Collin Peterson (D-MN), and Justin Amash (I-MI). All Republicans voted against it. Lawmakers also passed H.R. 823, the Colorado Outdoor Recreation and Economy Act.
