Reagan Address to Jr. High School Students
President Ronald Reagan marked the beginning of American Education Week and spoke to school students in the East Room of the White House. He talked about the foundations of American government, the values of democracy, and the regard for the United States held by other countries. He also answered questions from the students.
The event was telecast in several classrooms throughout the country.

Federal Reserve Chair Nomination Hearing
The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee held a hearing on the nomination of Janet Yellen for Federal Reserve chair. Many senators' questions focused on when the Federal Reserve would begin tapering back on quantitative easing and its other monetary policies. Other topics included income inequality, ending “too big to fail,” fiscal policy as it relates to monetary policy, the effects of a default on U.S. debt, and the need for a sustainable long term budget and debt reduction plan.

Campaign 2018: Attorney General Sessions Testimony at Oversight Hearing
Attorney General Jeff Sessions testified before the House Judiciary Committee on Justice Department oversight issues and Russia’s role in the 2016 election. Attorney General Sessions told the committee he stands by his previous testimony that he never lied about his contacts with Russia. He added that he had no recollection of a campaign meeting with George Papadopoulos and Carter Page involving Russia until he saw news reports. In addition, Attorney General Sessions said he has “no reason to doubt the young women” who have accused Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore of sexual misconduct.
