Al Goodwyn @Al_Goodwyn - Seems like every day the stock market serves as the key indicator of moves by Trump through the lens of our mainstream media, whether it’s his tariff or bowel moves.
Between the tariffs, the media’s TDS, or the far left’s threat to burn things, the more nervous Wall Street gets.
Which in turn causes the media to get the vapors and the far left to release flammable vapors.
Just a vicious cycle.
Wall Street has its jitters but if history is a viable indicator of long-term health, it’ll come back. And this is hardly the biggest case of jitters we’ve seen in the last 20 years.
- The drop triggered by the housing bubble in 2008 was the most significant so far in this century. It also took years to recover.
- Next, we had the Covid impact on the market. It resulted in a fast bear-market reaction followed by a quick four-month recovery.
- Then the bear market in 2022 due to the spike in inflation and the rise in interest rates. Unlike the 2008 and 2020 crashes, this was a slower, grinding bear market.
The 2025 market drop, while historic for its short-term losses, is less severe (-15%) than 2008 (-55%), 2020 (-34%), and 2022 (-25%).
