Rep. Adam Smith @RepAdamSmith - My statement on Trump ordering U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities:
I condemn in the strongest terms the President’s decision to order the U.S. military to strike Iran’s nuclear sites. The President did not seek authorization from Congress or demonstrate that Iran posed an immediate threat to the security of the United States. Furthermore, the President failed to provide clear objectives for these actions and there are no guarantees that it will eliminate the possibility of Iran developing a nuclear weapon or how long it might set their program back.
Engaging in direct conflict places U.S. service members and military sites in the Middle East squarely in the crosshairs of Iran and its many proxies. Tonight’s actions could further escalate tensions, destabilize the region, and drag the United States into an avoidable war.
The way to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon and to protect American service members is through diplomacy and negotiation, not entering into direct conflict. The path that the President has chosen risks unleashing a wider war in the region that is both incredibly unpredictable and treacherous and that threatens the safety and security of the United States, Israel, and ultimately the world.

Rep. Dan Newhouse @RepNewhouse - The decisive actions taken by the United States come as Iran refused to end development of their nuclear program, and I stand with our ally Israel as we work together to end this dangerous regime’s efforts towards a nuclear weapon of mass destruction. Iran cannot be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.

Rep. Eli Crane @RepEliCrane - Thanks to the policies of the radical democrats, a minimum of 1,272 Iranian nationals were released into our country after crossing the border illegally over the past four years.

"Under Joe Biden, there was 1,272 nationals of Iran released into the country" after crossing the border illegally, says @RealTomHoman.
"Compare that to the Trump Administration — ZERO."

Rep. Ilhan Omar @Ilhan - Statement from Rep. Ilhan Omar on U.S. Bombing of Iran:
“The strikes on Iran, ordered by President Trump and executed without congressional authorization, mark a dangerous and reckless escalation of an already volatile conflict in the Middle East.
“Military strikes will not bring peace. They will only provoke more violence, destabilize the region, and endanger U.S. troops and civilians. We’ve seen what happens when diplomacy is sidelined in favor of bombs. It only brings more death and destruction.
“Congress must vote immediately on Rep. Thomas Massie and Sen. Tim Kaine’s War Powers resolutions when we return to session. The American people are tired of endless war. We need to end this madness before more lives are lost.”

Rep. Ilhan Omar @Ilhan - As the Trump Administration attacks refugees, turning their pain into political stunts, closing doors when we should be opening them, we have a responsibility to stand with refugees no matter where they come from.
When we protect refugees, we protect our values and the belief that everyone deserves a chance to live free and safe.
Happy World Refugee Day!
