DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - Remember this thread, where it was pointed out that LA Mayor Karen Bass was a Castro operative?
Well, we may have to upgrade Karen Bass to actual foreign terrorist.
Reminder: this is the woman who was Vice Chair of NED.
Credit to @lamps_apple for finding this.

DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - Fun fact: In 2007, Iran charged several Iranian-Americans with espionage, including individuals affiliated with the Open Society Institute.
Iranian authorities accused the Soros-funded organization of trying to orchestrate a "soft revolution" in Iran, claiming it was part of a U.S.-backed effort to destabilize the regime.
However, this should be taken with a grain of salt as their primary evidence was televised confessions, which may have been coerced. The same accused also said they had a role in Georgia's velvet revolution. The US denied the allegations.

DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - Honduras is an excellent example of how we financed our own drug cartel problem:
The President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández, had a brother "Tony" Hernández who was arrested by the DoJ for large-scale drug trafficking organization. That brother was in Honduras' Congress as well while the drug trafficking was going on, and was the same party as the President (National Party).
Tony Hernández orchestrated many shipments involved multiple tons of cocaine into the United States. He used some of these millions to fund his brother's campaign. He also used "machinegun security" to protect these shipments and was involved in bribery of election officials and assassinations.
The irony was that Juan Orlando Hernández had pledged to cooperate with US counter-narcotic operations in return for economic aid to Honduras. Juan also gave Tony privileged access to military and state police intelligence.
However, Juan was somehow successfully able to deny knowledge of any of this. The United States cleared Juan and kept giving him hundreds of millions in foreign aid.

Organized Honduran drug dealer busted in San Francisco yesterday. There's a network of about 500 dealers from Honduras in the city. Last year, SFPD seized 90 kilos of fentanyl. @DEASANFRANCISCO

DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - It's worth noting that Juan Orlando Hernández did get charged, but only when his tenure as Presidency was over.
Most likely, the US government was well aware of Juan Orlando Hernández's dealings, but did not want to risk the chaos from implicating another nation's leader. So they waited until he was no longer in office.
