They will say the new report is meaningless because it confirms what everyone already knew, i.e. that Russia did not manipulate election infrastructure. They will obsess over that one point to dismiss the whole thing, while completely ignoring and actively lying about the far more explosive revelations, specifically that Russia showed no preference for Trump, that there was no proof they hacked any emails, and that the election outcome was not influenced.

Up until that moment, the official line—echoed across the intelligence community—was that Russia’s goal in leaking emails (assuming that Russia was responsible for the 2016 leaks, which remains unproven) was to sow general discord, not to elect Trump. And that made perfect sense. Everyone, including the Russians, expected Hillary to win.
But that narrative wasn’t useful once Trump pulled off the upset. Suddenly, Obama and Clinton needed a new story, one that would ruin Trump’s presidency before it began. So Obama commissioned the Intelligence Community Assessment to flip the consensus on its head and declare that Russia’s true goal had been to elect Trump.
Astonishingly, it took just one day to go from the December 8 Presidential Daily Briefing, which reflected the long-standing assessment, to the completely reversed version that would appear in the Intelligence Community Assessment and leak to the Washington Post on December 9.
There absolutely should be conspiracy charges against those who helped invert the intelligence consensus overnight to sabotage an incoming president. But let’s not pretend this was some rogue operation. The man who orchestrated it all was Barack Obama.
