Ancient China also gave the world remarkable inventions, e.g. movable type printing and the compass. But it was the West that turned those innovations that changed the world.
Printing technology revolutionized Europe by putting the Bible into the hands of ordinary people and ultimately leading to the Reformation.
The compass helped launch the Age of Exploration. While China shut its doors to the outside world, the West used it to discover the New World.
Let’s hope the intellectuals at Oxford are not too Woke to ask the right questions!
