Democratic National Convention, Day 3
Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) accepted the vice presidential nomination on the third night of the 2020 Democratic National Convention. Additional Democratic speakers included: gun violence survivor and former Representative Gabrielle Giffords (AZ), former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA), Senator Elizabeth Warren (MA), and former President Barack Obama. Topics that were addressed included: gun violence, global climate change, immigration, women's rights, former Senator Biden's role in the Violence Against Women Act, childcare, and the economic impact of President Trump's handling of COVID-19 on small businesses. Due to social distancing guidelines put in place in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the convention was a virtual event, with pre-recorded as well as live video presentations, no audience, and none of the leading participants speaking from the host city of Milwaukee. Actress Kerry Washington served as the host.

Much of day one of the 2024 Democratic National Convention was devoted to President Joe Biden's political career and the accomplishments of his administration. The president on July 21, 2024, announced that he was dropping out as the Democratic nominee, and he endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to become the party's presidential nominee. Speakers on the first night of the convention included former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton; Representatives Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), and Jamie Raskin (D-MD); Vice President Harris, who made an unannounced appearance; first lady Jill Biden; and President Biden, who was introduced by his daughter, Ashley.S
