Today In TV History @tvhistorytoday - October 16, 2001 - The series “Smallville,” debuted on the WB. It chronicled the life of a young Clark Kent in the years before he adopted his alter ego, Superman. Tom Welling starred as Clark Kent, and Kristin Kruek as Lana Lang. #Smallville #ClarkKent @Superman

Todd Blanche @DAGToddBlanche - Hey @FBIDirectorKash - the failing New York Times says we don’t like each other. Guess we’ll have to stop hanging out after work? Those dummies. Virtually every part of their “reporting” is exaggerated or fabricated, per usual. If it wasn’t for Wordle, nobody would subscribe.

Todd Blanche @DAGToddBlanche - Proud to stand with @POTUS Trump, @AGPamBondi, and @FBIDirectorKash to highlight the outstanding work of the FBI. Operation Summer Heat is shutting down drug houses, rescuing victims, and putting traffickers behind bars. This is America First justice.

Tomas McIntee @MathIntee - Heard a public radio piece chatting about Louisiana v. Callais on the docket, want to say two things.
(1) It has been very clear for a long time (especially anyone following NC districting 1990-present) that the VRA has been treated as both banning and mandating racial gerrymandering. The contradiction is relentlessly obvious.
(2) It is also very clear that with present racial politics, majority-black districts in particular (and majority-minority districts in general, to a lesser degree) are actually bad for Democrats as a party.
In terms of the balance of power, R-gerrymanders using VRA districts are generally more efficient than D-gerrymanders using VRA districts, as seen in NC. This is because majority-minority districts are packed with too many Democrats.
More importantly but less obviously, heavily packed districts elect dingbats, who can potentially stay in office for a long time damaging the party’s reputation and steering it away from popular politics.
