Senate Republicans @SenateGOP - Senator Warner has voted against funding SNAP more than 10 times in the last month. Instead, he's supporting the Schumer Shutdown and attacking the President for political gain.
Senator Warner needs to do his job and reopen the government so Virginians get the food assistance they need.
Quote
Mark Warner @MarkWarner
Throughout this shutdown, Trump has decided to just continue funding parts of the government he deems worthy. If he wanted to maintain SNAP, he could.
But he already signed the largest cut in the program's history in July.
Does this sound like someone who cares about SNAP?

Senate Republicans @SenateGOP - The American Federation of Government Employees–the largest union representing government employees–have called for Democrats to end the Schumer Shutdown.
It only takes 5 Democrats to vote for our clean, bipartisan bill to reopen the government and end the pain Senator Schumer is inflicting on Americans.

Senate Republicans @SenateGOP - This is absolutely false.
Senator Schiff has voted against funding food assistance 13 times in the past month. And he knows the President can’t use emergency funds for SNAP without action from Congress.
Senator Schiff should stop attacking the President and do his job: vote to reopen the government.
Quote
Adam Schiff @SenAdamSchiff
Let’s be clear:
Donald Trump has the power to ensure 40 million people don’t go hungry during the shutdown.
But he wishes to inflict the maximum pain on those who can least afford it.
He won’t fund food.
But he’s happy to build a golden ballroom.

Senate Republicans @SenateGOP - This is completely untrue.
SNAP funding will lapse because Democrats closed the government.
Democrats closed the government because Obamacare—which no Republican voted for—caused premiums to skyrocket.
Quote
Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester @SenLBR
Just this year, Republicans…
-Cut funding for SNAP, and now are trying to use hungry families as political leverage
-Cut funding for affordable health care, and now are trying to use higher premiums as political leverage
They're playing politics with people's lives.

Senate Republicans @SenateGOP - This is false.
President Trump cannot use emergency funds for SNAP without Congressional approval.
Senator Smith should do her job and vote for our bipartisan bill that fully funds SNAP.
Quote
Tina Smith @SenTinaSmith
They have the authority to keep SNAP going and they know it.
Letting families go hungry is a choice they’re making.

Senate Republicans @SenateGOP - Video: Democrats are blocking pay for our military, TSA, and federal law enforcement to gain “leverage.”
At what point will they care more about the American people than their own “leverage”?

Senate Republicans @SenateGOP - Thanks to Senator Slotkin's support for the Schumer Shutdown, 42 million low-income Americans will begin losing their food assistance starting this Saturday.
If she wants to discuss Obamacare's failure to provide affordable healthcare, Republicans are happy to talk--after she stops holding SNAP funding hostage.

Sen. Elissa Slotkin @SenatorSlotkin
It is my job to make sure people can actually afford care for themselves and their families.
