Hurricane Hunters @53rdWRS - HURRICANE MELISSA RECAP — We’re catching up on storm season and wanted to share what your Hurricane Hunters accomplished during Hurricane Melissa.
From Curaçao, the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron flew 17 missions and 170 hours, gathering real-time data inside the storm. That information went straight to the National Hurricane Center, improving forecasts as Melissa intensified into a Category 5 and impacted communities across the region.
The team is now back at Keesler and gearing up for winter weather missions.
