Ambassador Mike Waltz @USAmbUN - Video: Will the countries of the Security Council choose to stand with a regime that slaughters its own people, that brutalizes its neighbors, that strangles the world’s economy?
Or will they standing with the shining cities of Manama, Kuwait City, Dubai, Riyadh, and Doha—with the people that seek a better future, for not only their people, but for the region, and for the world?
I know what decision the United States is making. And we’re choosing to stand for freedom of navigation. We’re choosing to stand for international law. We’re choosing to stand with our partners as we move forward.

Ambassador Mike Waltz @USAmbUN - Translation: The Iranian regime wants to mine an international waterway, attack commercial vessels, charge illegal tolls, block humanitarian aid, and then call America “politically motivated” for asking the UN to make them stop.
Freedom of navigation is a core pillar of global peace and prosperity. Iran treats it like a doormat.
Quote:
I.R.IRAN Mission to UN, NY @Iran_UN - The only viable solution in the Strait of Hormuz is clear: a permanent end to the war, the lifting of the maritime blockade, and the restoration of normal passage.
Instead, the U.S. is pushing a flawed, politically motivated UN Security Council draft resolution under the pretext of “freedom of navigation” to advance its political agenda and legitimise unlawful actions—not to resolve the crisis.
Iran calls on Member States to act on the basis of logic, fairness and principle, not pressure, reject the draft, and refrain from supporting or co-sponsoring it.

Ambassador Mike Waltz @michaelgwaltz - This is exactly why dozens of countries are co-sponsoring the GCC/Bahrain UN resolution condemn Iran for laying sea mines in international waters and trying to “toll” global shipping at gunpoint. They understand the danger of this precedent going forward👇

Jack Prandelli @jackprandelli
THE WORLD RUNS THROUGH 8 STRAITS
Trade, Oil, LNG, Military power.
Key chokepoints:
• Malacca ~25% of global traded goods
• Hormuz ~25% of global oil, ~⅓ of LNG
• Singapore ~50% of global seaborne trade
• Gibraltar Atlantic ↔ Mediterranean
• Bosphorus Black Sea outlet
• Magellan Atlantic ↔ Pacific backup
• Bering Arctic gateway
• Bass Australian passage
These are pressure points.
Close Hormuz... Oil spikes.
Disrupt Malacca... Asia freezes.
Block Bosphorus... Black Sea trade halts.
Geopolitics isn’t abstract.
It’s maritime geometry.

Ambassador Mike Waltz @michaelgwaltz - Thank you Latvia 🇱🇻 for your principled stand against Iran throwing sea mines into the ocean and demanding bribes from civilian shipping at gunpoint!

Baiba Braže @Braze_Baiba
Latvia will support the Bahrain/US #UNSC draft resolution on the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s destabilising actions undermine maritime security and contribute to a global energy and security crisis.
The #UNSC must uphold international law and safeguard the freedom of navigation.
