“We had to we had to go and make a U-turn,” he said of the war. "We're going to have to journey down to the Islamic Republic of Iran, because if we don't do it, they're going to have a nuclear weapon… We knocked the hell out of them. And now we're negotiating from a position of pure strength."
The attendees, many of whom wore cowboy hats, remained standing throughout Trump’s remarks. The audience included Rollins (“great job you’re doing), Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent (“central casting”), Interior Secretary Doug Burgum ("another star"), Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (“very brilliant and very difficult") and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Mehmet Oz (“a great man”); Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen (R); Sens. John Boozman (R-Arkansas), John Hoeven (R-North Dakota), Roger Marshall (R-Kansas) and Joni Ernst (R-Iowa); Reps. Austin Scott (R-Georgia) and Celeste Malloy (R-Utah); and American Farm Bureau president Zippy Duvall.
The Rose Garden was set up with yellow-and-white patio chairs and tables, as well as blue gingham covered high-tops with rustic centerpieces of cabbage and tomatoes in terra cotta pots. A bar was styled the “White House Farm Stand” with baskets of eggplants, carrots, broccoli and other vegetables.
Just outside the garden fence, a vacuum truck started loudly humming exactly as the president started speaking. “I love that noise, it means money,” Trump said. “I guess they probably don’t want to hear.”
Staff succeeded in communicating to the driver to shut down the vacuum after one minute. “Thank you very much for turning that stupid machine off,” Trump said.
Trump repeated unsubstantiated allegations about vandalism at the Reflecting Pool and claimed 19 million barrels passing the Strait of Hormuz — which compares to a daily average of 20 million in 2025, according to the International Energy Agency — was a record.
Trump also mentioned raising the threshold for the EDTate tax, removing fuel-efficiency standards, lifting restrictions of ethanol in gasoline during summer, and rolling back an environmental regulation known as “Waters of the U.S.” Trump said half the farmers who stood with him while signing the policy were moved to tears.
The president briefly mentioned the Venezuela earthquake, saying, “We’re going to help them out.”
He finished by asking for music and encouraging the guests to have fun.
