California Governor candidate Steve Hilton (R) delivered brief remarks during the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) annual conference. Hilton commented on the 2026 World Cup and his own experience as a child of immigrants and an immigrant himself. He also discussed the struggles of working-class individuals in California. Hilton would face Xavier Becerra (D-CA) in the November general election. The nonpartisan Cook Political Report rated the general election race as "Solid Democrat."
