The articles I found mention that the new engines will have a shorter stroke than what is typical, but not much more technical stuff than that. That's ok though. Nice to hear that they are still developing ICEs. Have you read about Mazda's recent development of the roatary and supercharged 2 stroke? Pretty neat imo. 

Speaking of short stroke engines the 5 liter in my mystang is a short stroke design; 4" bore and 3" stroke, literally an f1 engine
