Gantz O was really good. I expected low budget, mediocre animation and got some super high effort CGI instead. I always enjoy how raw the japanese are about war and combat compared to the sugarcoated and PG-13 western portrayal of it. Especially when the gore is not cartoonish like it is in some other anime, and it's more of a Black Hawk Down brand of gore. I also enjoyed the manic pixie dream girl's body language. When I saw the gritty animation style I guess I expected westernized characters that walk and talk like wypipo but she couldn't have been further removed from that. Other typical jap tropes were also there and I don't appreciate those as much (i.e. the constant posing and pausing in front of immediate threats) but I realize that's mostly because I'm an uncultured baka and not used to their style. All in all much better than expected, I'd give it an 8.5
