>>/61163/ Nah it's just the shape of the back of the thing. The rectangular chunk holds the spring for the hammer and I exchanged the curved one (A1 style) for a flat one with a grippy surface. The curvy par is the grip safety, the new one works the same except it is flared up at the top to better keep the web of your thumb away from the hammer. Also I had to change the hammer to match the grip safety because the old one would hit it.
