The way the mind works, you can't just "not believe", despite developing advanced abstract thinking such as phylosophy and science, the other previous modes of thinking such as myth and religious thinking don't cease to exist or are made obsolete. At the edges of what you "can know" those modes of thinking will fill be used to fill out what you can't know.
So you need to give it care and study metaphysics/mythology/religion as well as you do the things within the sphere of the knowable, otherwise, it will just pick up whatever psyop is given to you and even if you don't know it, it will be your belief and it will affect you.

Jesus is a pretty good quick fix for people who don't want to go deep and have their own archetypes. Whereas Krishnamurti is insufficient, being a real flesh and bone person, he does not occupy the role of a mythological figure, leaving your mind open to accept other figures/concepts you are suggested.
