Well we do both live in those respective places. We are probably both thinking of the pretty tourist areas of the foreign countries. 
Though looking at demographics I think Europe is doing much better than the US. Here even in the "nice" places half the people you see are dead eyed jungle men, and I'm starting to believe those theories about how the gender ratio of the country is a lot farther from 50/50 than everyone assumes.
