Its more specifically you wouldn't have a financially organized society. The factions would still fight for natural resources and trade with each other and so on, via evolved currency systems. 
You would interface with that through corporations/armies/religious groups that hold the means of automation.

A society with direct free access to automation with a free market will need some time to redevelop and work to a very specific subtype of people.
