He is correct but also wrong.
You don't become what you think about, but he is not describing just thinking about, he is describing creating a persona in your mind and experiencing this persona.

Personas are at first not you, but the more you interact with it the more influence over you it has, like how when you have a good relationship with another person you pick up his traits and views. This is integration.

And its a bit more complex that you are not a blank slate, there is already a defined persona that you have to confront with your desired persona.
