Saying that the abstraction unavoidably creates the game, and saying blame the game not the players is the same "fallacy".

We still have the free will to refuse the game, if we believe in something greater. They don't, thus they are driven by the game, and while it is true killing them will only lead the "game" to pick others in their place, and that the game was not designed by any one individual, it is also true killing the players is a viable form of playing the game.
