That bushcraft guy relies a lot on stropping for "maintenance". I will try that. Typically I use a diamond stone to restore the edge and then a little stropping to clean off any burr. 
Also what he calls a microbevel, most in the US call a bevel. Maybe because he deals with a lot of scandi grind knives.
