You have to pick up certain rules and avoid certain pitfalls, but if you do its not that hard.

You are already figuring out they communicate mainly non-verbally, even the verbal is non-verbal (as in, what you said matters less than the context/act of saying).

If you think of them like catgirls who happen to speak but its just meowing converted to human, you will do fine. To be heard but not listened to literally/rationally, you will do fine.
