Why did you decide that Earth exploration and alien colonization were contradictory?
Man cannot simply sit on the Earth and work out a perfect adaptation to it so that he can live rather than survive.

The only way to achieve such overadaptation is to squeeze a human being in an artificial, supernatural way. This "supernatural" path is to send it to other planets, to which it would partially adapt, and then return to Earth.
