Striped Surprise on Mars
https://science.nasa.gov/blog/a-striped-surprise

Last week, scientists and the internet were stunned when Perseverance spotted a strange striped rock unlike any seen on Mars before.

While driving through the unremarkable pebble terrain, the team spotted a cobblestone in the distance with a hint of unusual texture in low-resolution Navcam images and gave it the name “Freya Castle”. The team planned a multispectral observation using a Mastcam-Z camera to take a closer look at it before leaving. "Freya Castle" is about 20 cm across and a striking pattern with alternating stripes.

The team believes that this rock has a texture unlike any previously found in Jezero Crater, and possibly throughout Mars.
