Often the really effective things don't sound or look like very much. It may appear as if they're just throwing things out, and they do so in the games, but learning a single barrage spell would be a considerable achievement on this path. As the names imply they're also very dark magic but the true meaning is probably lost to most. The destruction of an era with the majority of souls being thrown in damnation is truly horrifying for anyone at the human level of awareness. A yokai may look at this from outside of time and think
> this looks like a good idea for a spell
and that is what such a spell really is.
When you see people in society throw out their opinions and perform their daily acts of degeneracy and sin, you see it and think it's just humans being human. They say things like
> I respect your right to express yourself, opinions are just opinions
and so on. But how many of those acts are enough to sentence them to an eternal gehenna process? A single "everyday act" could lead to a person spending 1000 years in a torture chamber, and it will be completely physical to them. The path is so thin. When I did a visit to one of the hell dimensions during a session, I saw a programmer who pushed a bad update on cash registers once. It caused lots of trouble for 1000s of people who were using the system. His arrogance put him in hell for pressing a button.
When I look at the world and people now I see eternally damned souls yelling and screaming about "injustice" but all they have left are a few decades of being human, after that it's eternal torture for them. They can't escape it unless they have some kind of awakening, and even if they do they still have to pay off the karma. The only difference is if they are allowed to incarnate again or not.
To a touhou they see these "not even insects" people and think about how to make use of their destruction.
