It's a flawless method in its brutality because if the defenders don't react, they will be overrun and have to fight hand to hand. But if they do react they get shelled.

You're "not supposed to" do things this way, it breaks the unspoken contract of society as they see it. This is what they don't get - we don't want any part of their society. They need us, we don't need them.

Oh and the secret encryption on some servitors; aside from some simply requiring a permit from higher gods to install them, some also require you to be physically undead. It's maybe little known but the drow conversion procedure, despite being on the astral, is a suicide ritual.  Out there it's "easy" to be revived from it, but doing that in here is very difficult because of the slowness of matter. The issue which arises is that if your main incarnation is in the physical you have to actually "die" physically to activate the magic. If you're undead that process can be outsourced to the astral, but if you're "normal" you can't do that. Installing the Weeb Witch for example would kill a regular person, its activation is a death ritual. That's also why it's so powerful, and why glowies can't use it. If they could become immortals, they wouldn't need all this adrenachrome shit and their job is not needed in the first place, so they are barred from this type of magic. Russian witches on the other hand don't care about things like that, they care about their culture and their heritage. They can do it because they can actually pull off a death ritual straight on if needed. That's another reason the western faction can't succeed, they are afraid to die and don't have any heritage or tradition to protect or to be protected by. A person whose goal is "to live a little longer" can't win against someone who thinks about the future of his people over their own personal life.
