Conveniently SAO makes a return with Gun Gale II, set somewhere in between the original series and Alicization, the last one being quite literally about this scenario, where the time inside the virtual world would run at 10X or 20X the speed compared to outside, utilizing the brain's ability to perceive plotlines at a much faster rate when asleep. Spoiler warning: They also have the ending issue where the time progression on the inside is detached from the outside, and 200 years passes in the Alice world, when only 10 min passed outside, and they all have to stay inside for all that time.
