No, it was when Lisa left for The Institute (The one from the episode, "The Mad Scientist) and created the time machine to send her back in time. She failed the time travel experiment from her perspective in the fic and she had the ultimate choice of going back home and hurting her scientific reputation or staying at The Institute in spite of how miserable she is and thugging it out. CS got the idea for it from this couple of seconds in the episode itself where Lisa begins to split into multiple copies of herself mid-travel

Maggie wasn't abusive to Benny. Maggie is, as CS puts it, a "low level sociopath" in this fic. She manipulated events for Benny to break up with Luan but she loves Benny in her own way and doesn't abuse Benny.
