It reminded me more of some kind of franco belgian type comic style myself, sometimes they draw characters with big mouths over in France I think.
 
As for Leni as a character, idk, I think they could definitely play the big sister stuff up more but the interest for me is just that she's really endearing and is always trying her best despite her limitations, I think it's okay for a character to be simpler if they're just really likeable or entertaining on screen. 
I think her trlh depiction was just... okay. (at least, from what I saw, I haven't seen all of the show yet) There are some things are thought were fun and some I felt were kind of falling into the "dumb character is aloof because dumb" trope or at times even insinuating it's just an act which isn't really something I want for her when she's meant to be emotionally intelligent generally.

I'm happy for the show making it this far, but also a little disappointed in myself not doing more fanart lately. I wanted to have some stuff ready by now, I keep ending up procrastinating it for one reason or another and I really gotta fix that. I can't believe 2025 is already so far in. But happy anniversary!

Like techically I'm TLH oldfag but I don't know very much about /trash/ or before 2023ish and the fandom at large. I think I lurked like once or twice in 2021 but I was usually on /co/.
