Had a conversation with a big boss at my day job. He offered me a path to his position basically. Nothing guaranteed but obviously plausible. It would start with more responsibility, management track or not.
I have no concerns as to whether I could do the job, it's trivial, easier than the technical work I do.
It would be a fast track to promotion 25% increase that would lock me in. Blah blah blah. I turned him down without hesitation. I like the guy, he's been good to me, but his job sucks, he knows it.
He gave me a guilt trip and left it open, but no.
I already make a lot. That 25% is actually 12% bc of my 2nd job. After tax bc progressive taxes, more like 8%. For more hours, more stress, more trouble.
No thanks. Stuff it. My system fully supports this decision.
