Thank you, the books look different but they're printed December 2014, so they're likely the same version. The receipt says "5e".

[Ashley] We're all noobs here can't even be sure what version we're using.

I just realized everything is in pounds, which equates to .454 kg. All the calculations and written values are pounds (lb). So I will have to say one, maybe the only, complexity I'm passing on to you is mental conversion of weight. I will speak in pounds as per the manuals. The character can carry 15x their strength in pounds assuming they have proper packs and bags. A backpack is assumed to come in varies sizes and carries the majority of that weight, it also has a weight, clothes and armor have a weight, coins have a weight. Additionally you may have a side pouch, a coin purse, and pockets each doing their part. We won't worry too much about it for this first campaign and I will look over what minimum supplies you need and make sure everyone has the necessary gear to tow their load. It only becomes an issue when you have a lot of loot to choose from.

A character of 15 strength would be able to carry more then their own bodyweight (225 lbs) which is a lot.

Paradoxically the players handbook lists a backpack only carries 30 lbs which is wrong to me. Bags also only carry 30 lbs. I would presume you could carry a backpack and two bags along with a bedroll, rope, and your weapon and shield.

I will make allowances to increase the capacity of an "adventurer's pack" to 80L (80kg) or 176 lbs max leaving two bags at 30 lbs each making it possible for a character of strength 15 to carry her capacity. I would assume standard clothing has pockets capable of carrying 15lbs. We're not worried about shape or packing it securely or loading evenly in this campaign.

I will verify that what you have you are capable of carrying since I will also have your inventory list. So I could offer to give you a report of your current encumbrance (weight carried vs limits) when it changes.

For reference we are using the encumbrance system so you are encumbered at 5x your strength in lbs and heavily encumbered at 10x your strength up to 15x your strength, above that you can't move but could be teleported if you want to take large things with you (assuming someone has a teleportation spell and enough MP to use it). There are also potions and spell that can increase your capacity or remove encumbrance.

Encumbered = a drop in movement of 10ft (again it's in feet not meters). I will try to remember to put distance in ft (m), mi (km) as it rarely comes up as explicit numbers.

Heavily Encumbered has further penalties and there are several disadvantage rolls: ability, attack and saving on strength, dexterity and constitution. I will however not count it against you in combat if you spend a turn to drop your equipment, of course you can drop it before starting an encounter if you have the initiative.

> i think it only matters for character evolution so our girls can reach their desired subclass or specialization thats not in older versions or not available without addon like tashas cauldron. most important for Cat and Yulya.

I will have you develop a character evolution up to level 5 for now. So review in the players guide what a similar character has, closest to what your hero is, and make a similar plan for them. This would include any custom abilities and developments, the world is open to you, and I will check them for balance. That would be a separate homework assignment from the character sheet. If you want me to do it, I will but describe what custom abilities you want and I will adjust them appropriately.
