>>/3804/ > what's considered 'good' or 'evil' here. Who determines that? Gods of this world? Gods can see your life review before you 'die'. There is a connection of the sphere to other planes of existence containing gods. The gods in question will differ from individual to individual. This review is integrated and used as a predictor of future actions. There is a subjective score that is roughly translated to "evil, neutral or good." That too is an interpretation of a subjective review of a weighted integration and dependent on a certain god's personal judgement. This is exceptionally vague--I even impress myself. > Also is Cat evil? Inquiring minds want to know. > Will the super fancy orb immediately find out who she is and make a dreadful buzzing sound while blinking in red light? The gods involved will transmit the pure thought to the proctor, the proctor will make a determination based on their own interpretation and will be held somewhat responsible for that decision. In the Adventurer's guild, there are three, one is an employee named Freya, one is another employee name TBD, and the last is the guild master, name TBD, all of who are sorcerers/sorceresses. There is a chance that if a sorcerer or sorceress touches the sphere, they'll be given an otherwise worthless skill colloquially called "GOD SIGHT". Only the proctor who touches the sphere at the same time as you will know what was transmitted, even you will not know unless you also have GOD SIGHT. As I spoke of earlier, their liability is limited by the registered leader of the party in question. If it is the leader then their liability isn't as limited, but may be limited by the leader's lucid underlings unless they are all conditioned slaves. If you are determined to be evil, by the proctor, then you won't be allowed to register with that guild, but other guild proctors may still allow you, or if you live a few years without being evil. They know your deeds, not your thoughts. The gods know, but that is out of scope for this discussion. > Or isn't she in the criminal database because presumed dead? Justice in this world is somewhat different than 21st century Earth. A crime requires three key elements: 1. a victim who has been harmed in some way. 2. a living accuser. 3. a living witness other than the accuser and the victim. Without all these, there is no case. No witnesses, no crime. No victim (living or dead) no crime. No accuser, no crime. This too is based mostly on credibility and power. Nobility may kill or commit heinous acts with virtual carte blanche, again, the interpreting proctor will make the final decision and will be the only one who knows. A noble has a lot of power and sway over the interpretation in that way, so an "evil" noble will have no issue being an adventurer and wreaking havoc without any lawful consequences. However, they aren't immortal so they might wake up dead before they get to have too much fun. Again, the proctor will know and a good proctor is a good resource for information on individuals. This is the major role of high end assassins, sometimes hired by one noble to kill another, sometimes by the guild itself. Assassins and mercenaries are not considered evil for killing for money, they would be considered like a gun and so on. Again, you need three things, see above. Murder for hire is illegal but not necessarily for the one doing the killing and a high level assassin doesn't talk about their jobs or sponsors, they aren't caught in the act. Those quests aren't handed out at the front desk to anyone. So, no, there is no "you're evil" red blinking light, but there is accountability and there is justice.
