Made to order custom armor with custom properties.
Though it can be expensive, SheShe has been allowing her group to design and order custom armor.
Here's an example:
EXTRA LIGHT LEATHER ARMOR it has a AC of 11 but can be worn by magic users, so for that extra 1 AC they paid a hefty premium, however, 15AC vs 14AC could be the difference between living and dying. What else are you going to spend your coin on other than saving it to level?
Also weapons, if you have a high strength, say 19, then consider ordering a Great Maul rather than buying a Maul. It would weigh twice as much but do 3d6 instead of 2d6. You can guess who got that one.
Lastly one of them had proficiency in short bow, but the range is sorely lacking, so they considered a "LARGE COMPOSITE SHORT BOW" something to put on your wish list, a short bow with the stats closer to a long bow and only 150 gold!
Rather than a short sword, try an Elvish Sword, stats closer to a long sword but light and agile like a short sword.
Above that we go magic.
