I made it unnecessarily complicated but it's easy once you know.
1 lb 4sp dry ration
4 lbs 4sp full ration
1 lb 4sp cooked ration
4 lbs 4sp full cooked ration
Full rations contain 3 lbs of water
Cooked rations are identical to uncooked rations but can't be cooked again.
Uncooked rations may consist of uncooked things such as dried meat, nuts, berries, dried fruit, vegetables, spices, roots, fungus, blood. They can be dissected for their parts.
Cooked rations cannot be separated, they're just uniform mush in a brick of various colors and consistencies.
> I am unsure about a bow for Cat, I don't understand the system enough to judge if it makes sense. But it's too expensive, a longbow costs 50 gp!
I highly recommend it if you have proficiency and decent dexterity because without ranged weapons you are at a big disadvantage to ranged opponents as Bear's group proved.
I would recommend that over thieves tools or an extra shield.
In most cases there will be other obstacles to hide and take cover behind.
Arrows are also 1 gold each iirc. Still worth it.
I don't recommend javelins as their optimal range is worthless at 30ft. You will have disavantage on hit beyond the optimal range.
If you have martial or bow weapon proficiency then get a longbow as a priority. I would also have at least 10 arrows if not more. When the enemy closes in, then you would meet them to protect the others.
Nect question on another post.
