We went for a short hike last weekend and in a forest there was a big bird of prey wrestling with something on the ground. We were maybe 5m away and behind the bird so it didn't see us. First host thought it had caught a hare but it turned out it was a buzzard struggling with a large grass snake. He asked me what to do. Intervene and save the snake or have the buzzard have its meal. Though decision. Eventually the bird spotted us, I mean host, not me, and took off without its prey. In the end the snake was dead and the buzzard had nothing. Nature is cruel and pointless.
