Cat tries to reason with the Goblin ladies but they seem more apprehensive. One explains that they don't want to fight monsters. They also look confused when you mention a smell.
Cat is saying the equivalent of, your house stinks, to someone who is used to it.
The goblin leaders lead her to the loot and this is what she finds while Alice inspects the supplies to the Northeast:
[1d20+3=11]
There's at least 1500 silver worth of untouched supplies here that could easily be sold at Phandalin but it would need a cart to do that as even one crate would be too much to carry there. The supplies include grain, clothes, tools, alcohol, furniture, odds and ends that aren't especially useful to anything you're doing, a smattering of about anything you'd find in a general store but in bulk and unprocessed form. You figure this was at least the last shipment someone tried to send through to Phandalin. Amid this are many crates and barrels that had been opened and rooted through but the goblins have taken anything valuable.

> Ashley, can you let the lynxes patrol the cave entrance? I'd rather not be trapped in here!
Ashley sends Olga back to the entrance as a lookout.
Ashley reluctantly approaches the elders again and inquires about any supposed spider.
[1d20+5=25] Once again she's given the keys to the kingdom in terms of information, they're so happy to be allowed to stay in their home and with their newly found freedom, they say everything they know, but much of the information is worthless. Ashley gleans that there's a hidden chest among the supplies. As far as they know there's no giant spider, nor has there ever been, but one recalls that Klarg, one of the goblin leaders, was contacted by the bugbear King Grol to send a dwarf his way in exchange for payment, they never met the dwarf and don't know anything about him. They think Klarg put the payment in the chest and they say you're welcome to it. They don't care about far away kings or dead leaders. They also say that several of their girls were sent to that castle as well. Ashley figures they were sent as slaves.
Ashley looks through the southern pile of supplies and searches for traps.
[1d20+3= 10]
She finds the small chest, about 12 inches in width and weighing about 15 lbs, it feels heavier than it should. She carries it out of the pile and presents it to Yulya.
Ashley attempts to pick the lock as she doesn't recall seeing any key.
[1d20+2=12][1d4=1] The lock stubbornly refuses to open. She thinks it's a DC15 lock.
"Alice, you've got nimble fingers, care to try?"
Alice has a +3 bonus to pick locks at the risk of breaking a pick. Ashley's already tried once and her next failure will break a pick.
