Can't do without a bit of Syria. Tradition. Continue discussing conflicts in third world shitholes. The hot topic these days is Ukraine however.
Situation after way over a month is unsure. Russian had obvious results in the map painting department, but about how each militaries are doing the intel is unreliable. In the north changes seem to happen, previously Russian occupied settlements now under Ukrainian control again. Russians said they are withdrawing troops, Ukrainians said they're just regrouping for another attack. In the south Russians reached the Dniepr from Crimea and pushed to the east reaching Donbas, Mariupol is surrounded but not surrendered yet. Most of Luhanks oblast seems to be occupied. Clashes were had to the west over the Dnieper, up to Mykolaev and Krivoy Rog. Lots of fighting were done at Sumy and Kharkov. I think now an operational pause is going on.
Now on this livemap I see many air raid sirens going off in western Ukraine. Not sure why.
Here's a handy informational from Al Jazeera.
It shows who will suck the most in the EU, since official policy now seem to turning to give up Russian fossil fuels and replace them with... energy grass? I dunno, something oil from US companies, or oil from companies owned by US companies or something.
Also this don't seem to show the gas situation, gas as natural gas, not benzine/gasoline/diesel or what USians calls gas.
Anyway several EU countries have reasons to veto embargo on fossil fuels as weapon against Russia:
- Northern Hungary
- Czech Republic
So basically every fugging Eastern EU countries, Netherlands, plus Germany herself but they don't care.
Breddy gud. Adapting with the tools westerners make for them available.
Were those Ukrainian losses 2014-17 in that table? Or generally? It wasn't clearly specified.
I wonder if this makes Musk a belligerent participant.
Nice map about units in the Sievierodonetsk salient.
Was also talk about the river crossing failure. It seems artillery did them.
If Russians could deal with the artillery that would be quite a blow.
Lotsa shelling today, even in the north. Did not make screenshot, otherwise nothing changed.
I wonder what are the targets of these attacks. Since the actual activity restricted to small portions of the front, the Ukrainians could redirect artillery pieces to the active areas, essentially endlessly, to replace what was lost there. But if Russians can destroy the various type of guns all over the place, then Ukros can get into trouble at one point (ofc Westerners prop them up with more so...)
It was Ukrainian losses from 2014 to 2017, if you are quick you can catch a glimpse of the title of the slide at one point, his slides are in English for some bizarre reason.
> Artillery - 2014-17 LI/LL Ukraine
> Analysis of combat damage for armored vehicles in the area of joint forces operation
I dunno what LI/LL means. But from the rest it isn't clear whose losses are those.
The Russians are still making minor gains around Popasna and in other areas. It seems Ukrainian counter attacks have stopped or at least they have not taken anything more. Southfront is saying that there might be a Canadian General that was among those captured in Azovstal.
> The Ottawa Citizen reported that Lieutenant General Trevor Cadier was supposed to take command of the Canadian Army last September, but that was canceled after a sex scandal erupted around him. A former female member of the army accused him of violence. At the same time, it became known that Cadier had left Canada despite the fact that the investigation was still ongoing.
> Trevor Cadier did appear on Ukrainian territory, which there is a lot of evidences of, and then suddenly disappeared from sight. He is not in Kiev and is not listed among the dead. As Ottawa Citizen concludes, the NATO general is currently in the catacombs of the Azovstal plant in Mariupol together with Nazis from Azov and several hundred foreign mercenaries.
It seems it was not in an official capacity.
South front is also saying there are two battalions of Polish troops moving from Kiev to support the AFU but I don't think I believe that or at least it certainly needs evidence.
Maybe those Poles are volunteers, and half of them might not be even Pole. Some international unit.
Justice Minister Moro resigned. He is immensely popular and was doing a good job. There have been high-profile arrests and in 2019 the number of murders dropped by 10 thousand compared to the previous year, a decrease of a fifth. This is a result of many factors: in the Northeast cooperation among cartels reduced violence, but the reduction happpened in other states. Legislation wasn't a factor as there was next to no real change in this regard. He retains much prestige despite the scandal with his leaks, eternal hate from the left due to being Lula's nemesis and repeated disempowerment of the anti-corruption struggle by Congress and the Supreme Court.
What caused this was Bolsonaro's elimination of Federal Police director Maurício Valeixo, who had been picked by Moro. In his final address he noted that:
-There was no legitimate reason for this as he had been effective in his post
-This was a violation of the promise Bolsonaro made upon naming him Minister, that he'd have freedom to handle subordinates
-Bolsonaro also intends to replace a subordinate of the director, the Rio de Janeiro superintendent, and possibly other superintendents, which goes against his spirit of giving autonomy to subordinates
-A replacement now would create confusion and harm the Federal Police's functioning
-Bolsonaro personally told him this was a political choice
Why political? He did not say this straight, but what everyone says is that it was to protect Bolsonaro's sons from investigation, and hence why the Rio de Janeiro superintendent is also involved. Their corruption accusations are petty for Brazilian standards but what's bigger are accusations they might be tied to militias. As always Bolsonaro's sons are his priority. This behavior doesn't come out of nowhere as he has few contacts in Brasília, having lived his career in the sidelines, and many reasons to be distrustful. Moro isn't someone he has a reason to distrust but his sons still came first.
Election in Australia today, we had a state election not long ago, this is a federal election.
Both parties are basically the same, it doesn't even matter. But we will see how many non-majors get seats this time.
They are still counting votes. But Labour won so we are getting a new Prime minister called Anthony Albanese, I'll wait for the final results to say more.
A CPAC was held on the Hungary. USA midterm elections are coming up in November, so campaign all year. What's weird is they campaigning with Hungary. Both country an Orbán returns in their news. Liberals foaming just makes him more recognized, popular, and influential.
From Scottish Alba?
I looked him up and apparently it's an Italian name for people from Albania or something. It's from his dad but his dad separated with his mother before or shortly around his birth or something. He's also from a fairly poor background raised by a single mum in public housing and it said he was part of the hard left of the Labour Party and was head of a young labour group when he was young that kept in touch with the Australian communists and such. I don't like this....
Yes, Alba is a Latin name. Scotts themselves never called that place like that unless clerical education.

Last year I found out there's native Linux version of the Baldur's Gate Enhanced Editions. They are working well but I don't think I'll ever finish a playthrough again. Back then I finished original BG, and BG2, but not the Throne of Bhaal expansion. Damn long games.
Enhanced Edition makes it possible to play this classic DnD based crpg on modern steel, fixes bugs, changes some rules, adds new NPCs with quests, new items, two new expansions (The Black Pits - arena fight generator?, and Siege of Dragonspear - which is a module for the original story, taking part between BG1 and BG2). It seems okay all in all.
No. But I played Battlefield 2. That's after the 1942. USAians vs Arabs.
What I played and kinda sorta was similar, is a SWAT game, where as part of such police unit buildings had to be cleared fro criminals basically. I can't recall the title. I can look it up probably.
I think it had multiplayer, but I played it with pals at one pc taking turns at single player. The coppers in the game had special equipment like the scope which can be put under the door through the crack and look around what's in the room. And I remember a pal of mine used that scope, then opened the door without switching back to a weapon, then raised the scope at the criminal... to take a good look at him I guess. That mission was a failure. Laffed a lot.
They are more like that, Squad actually was made from people that made a mod for Battlefield 2 or 3(I don't know which) called Project Reality and Squad itself is basically Project Reality but made on it's own engine. It's like battlefield but the maps are much bigger and you don't respawn at captured points, instead you have to build spawn points and to do that you need supply and to get that you need logi trucks. You also have to join a squad in that game, it's heavily team work based. ARMA shares a lot of those features but it has a single player campaign and the multiplayer isn't as rigid or Battlefieldesque.
Insurgency is more like a swat game though. I did not play it much because I don't like Swat games, but the shooting was good.
I see. I figured it's some cooperative stuff. Which in itself is good play style.
I don't really like it. I don't like dealing with people, you can get a good quad sometimes but even then I still don't like having to talk to them and use headsets and be constricted in all of those ways.
Previous one is autosäging.
Wanna watch The Longest Yard, the original Burt Reynolds movie.
I only see two remakes, the Mean Machine with Vinnie Jones, and the Adam Sandler comedy from 2005. Probably the only good Adam Sandler movie. It's greatest selling point is the catchy tunes played in the background and the supporting cast. Judging by the screenshots it follows the original story quite tightly. The Mean Machine is adapted to the circumstances of a Bri'is prison and normal football. It was entertaining too.
One more remake was made, and Egyptian one: Captain Masr in 2015. Not sure if it's available anywhere, or has any English dubs or subs. Also features normal football.
> This was the first movie of the two leading actor (Not Sure is one of 'em), and for the director/writer Wes Anderson too.
That's what usually happens whenever you do something for the first time.
> I liked how the background of the scenes were used, story influencing events played out there in parallel with the activity of the foreground characters.
Now that's some good cinematography
Can you suggest me more films?
Maybe. What kinda films do you have in mind?
I can recommend Dersu Uzala by Kurosawa for example. Or The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, the original Swedish.
Personally I wanna watch How I Unleashed The Second World War for a while now. That Polish masterpiece with Gzegorz Berzyczkyewitcz or how it is spelled. It consists of 3 parts, 1 hour long each, therefore kinda long for a regular movie night.
And Potop (Deluge), and C.K. Dezertezy. These are Polish too.
I can also recommend most if not all Bud Spencer & Terence Hill movies. They are light fun although kinda repetitive in the long run, and the later films the tropes get tired.
I just realised something... something spooky as fuck.
You know how sumo is derived from some ancient rituals? How it was performed in shrines, to appease the kami, to ensure prosperity? It was only later professionalised, and is now performed on a national level by salaried wrestlers, but there are still many religious elements, from how the ring is consecrated by a priest before each tournament, yokozuna entering the ring with that big white rope around his belt, to wrestlers actually throwing salt into the ring before each bout as a means of consecration. It is a deeply religious ritual, somehow performed to appease the kami for the entire nation of Japan. Kinda like how the ancient Olympic Games were performed on temple grounds, and were a form of vitalist worship of Greek gods.
You know when's the last time sumo wasn't performed as scheduled? March 2011. The March of the earthquake and tsunami that rekt Japan. But guess what? The tournament was cancelled a month before. Because of some match-fixing scandal. Yep, that's right. And the earthquake happened 2 days before the tournament was scheduled.
The earthquake happened because the sumo ritual wasn't performed. Because the kami weren't appeased. They were pissed and caused the earthquake as a warning.
Sumo is back, grand tournament of May starts this Sunday!
Again gonna stream nattosumo's recaps (if he still makes them, he should) every day at 18:30 on https://cytu.be/r/endcorner
Terunofuji had to sit out most of the last basho due to injury (heel and knee).
Three ozekis this isn't changed due to Shodai managed getting his shit together previously.
Wakatakakage and Abi as sekiwakes, but neither has the track record needed to become champions.
Hoshoryu is komusubi now can he move up with pulling a great score?
Takayas climbed back, but Ura fell back now he is on the same level with Wakamotoharu.
Now let's take a look at the other end of the banzuke.
Oho is in Makuuchi again, and now the tiny Midorifuji too! I wish both of them luck.
In Juryo it's Ryuden and Enho. The former should beat the whole bunch again, and probably move up to Makuuchi by next tournament. The latter I hope can perform well and get to the top of this division.
I dunno about the rest, especially the new ones. Probably Slov could write something.
First day bouts weren't that good to be honest. A bit lackluster compared to the start of the previous one. And not because several of the contestants who should have won failed, simply just not that many bouts had that intensity.
Enho and Ryuden won, that is a plus, Enho nicely, Ryuden's was a bit meh, his opponent gave up at the end.
Shodai, Takakeisho, and Terunofuji all lost. It seems Teru still has problems with his legs, congrats Daieisho however on his win against the yokozuna, whom he beat the second time straigh.
Hoshoryu too, lost. I think Ichinojo did not participate at all. I guess injury.
Oho and Midorifuji got beaten too.
Well it was just the first day. Anything can happen till the end.
First bout right at the bat was breddy gud. Chiyonoumi vs. Churanoumi
Enho did a great throw! Started very aggressively, and kept his opponent in check, then threw him onto the ground with his mawashi. He needs to win 3 more, essentially all the bouts left to get a positive balance.
Kitanowaka was back from sitting 5 out. But lost.
Akua had to a barrel roll.
Ryuden fought in Makuuchi, against Oho. Won clear and relatively fast. I feel sorry for Oho, but was almost inevitable.
Aoiyama still doing good, had his 8th win, positive balance achieved.
Terutsuyosh' was harassed until fell.
Takanosho's 10th win. He'll do couple of steps in the ranking.
Kiribayama vs Wakamotoharu, very intense. Tachi-ai big crash.
Takayas and Takarafuji, both having very bad score. Bu Takayas' routinely beat Takarafuji on previous occasions, now too. Takarafuji 2-10...
Shodai got henka'd but get himself together for a moment. Elders decided at a rematch. Sadly Shodai beat Tobizaru this time.
Matakeumi has to run after the results now that Abi beat him.
Takakeisho vs. Ura. Ura already was in positive balance. What a surprising bout, even them did not know what happened. Hilarious, laffed a lot. Ura won. Congrats.
Terunofuji STRONK. I'm expecting at least one more win from Teru. I hope his joints hold together.

As I promised I'll write about this book.
It's quite lengthy but you'll reach the end if you read at your own pace. Most of the book isn't dense for me, an economic layman, with the exception of the parts about trade, which left me confused. I'll write what I manage to understand.
The author wrote it to argue in historiographical debates and make some points, but I read it just to add to my historical knowledge.
I'll write in sections, at most one a day so Bernd doesn't get overwhelmed, and will try to make the sections more thematic rather than just a sythesis of each chapter, as Hitler himself suggests in Mein Kampf for how one should mentally organize knowledge. I want to write about:
-Trade and controls of foreign currency and raw materials
-Budgets and revenue
-Businessmen and workers
-The fate of different industries
-General progression from 1933 to 1939
If I give up on writing I hope at least to cover the prewar period. I also hope to write on:
-Armaments priorities until 1940
-Historiography of the battle of France
-Occupied economies and pre-1941 America
-Leadup and economic reasoning for Barbarossa
-The Speer miracle
-General progression from 1939 to 1945
But first I must make some notes on the Weimar era.
Also. He is a good example of ideological bias. It is more than that "trust the plan" Q thing, they're getting their chops busted for. It's a whole world view and real motivation put into actions. A life built on it. Nowadays it's easy to claim "I'm a this or that" (think "I'm libertarian", "I'm anarcho-capitalist" etc.) when their life and how they live it doesn't really reflects anything. They just find things true and they voice their thoughts.
At least it helped him sleep at night.
> . Nowadays it's easy to claim
It was always easy to claim such things, I mean for example champange socialism is not a new term. Comformism always existed but it has never been such an overwhelming norm before. You go to twitter you wave your ideological flag, release your anger, relax and live like everyone else. This new way of life prevents any meaningful change as it comforts pretty much everyone. The illusion of change is worse than normal stagnation.
"Moved" this discussion to the politics thread.

This little faggot is making covers for all kinds of popular music.https://youtube.com/watch?v=0Gd-jNKhTC8
Previously Venezuelaball posted some songs of a sludge metal band, Acid Bath. Managed to put my hands on some of their songs. Here's a couple I liked.
This one is nice at least partially, Saint Jude: Soun on Fire
These post-punk guys now make some kind of black metal, although not so typical.
> although not so typical.
The slow paced into is kinda doom metal-ish. Then it's typical black. Then a bit of power metal. And somewhat symphonic too.
The basic tune is simple, maybe a bit folkish.
The outro (bout 6:30) is something else.
Not bad. Needs mood.

name of that country?
It wasn't really that music, was it.
The evolution of an actor.
From some of the comments there I assume this is a fresh compilation.
To be honest I could get same amount of insults for Hungarian flag (and others for other nationality). Not from Russians probably, but who knows. Generally many rude people on the internet, just look at imageboards.
I was kinda pissed when they retired that perfect thicc F-14s and started to prefer these sticc F-18s.
> name of that country?
Probably Equatorial Bluegaria. It's equatorial because it's a darker shade of blue.
Hi I decided to finally jump from KC to somewhere else.
Can I get cosy autistic discussions and sharing of media and OC content here?

Endchan location detection is like that sometimes. Just FYI me (board owner) can't do anything about it, if you want you can complain about it on /operate/ but this problem was known for years.
How big is the userbase here lel. Goes quite slow, which is kinda cute.
> how big
Small. Check endchan's board list for daily stat. It does not count Torusers, which is sometimes one.
Problem is, this band is together since 2016-17 and we expressed our opinion on every important topic twice from start to end and backwards. Also posted many interesting shit, most of not in the catalog anymore, and run out of things to post. Plus all of us has our lives, some moved away from imagebaords.
Plus plus, since we are only a few it is less likely that a post will overlap with another's interests, so might not provoke replies.
Plus plus plus, personally I feel less and less the "need to correct" wrong opinions on the internet (I did not have much of that to begin with, and sometimes I rather ridicule, especially if I smell trolling, also I'm busy and tired), and the others aren't keen on argue over bs either. So heated discussions are rare.
During busiest times we had ~15 posters. Now daily ones are me and that Australian fella. And we have some more posters who checks in once or twice per week. And other occasional posters.
If you post something we'll read it, maybe even reply.
