Real wilderness cooking:
Boiling tanic nuts for hours
Grinding greens and insects into a paste
Smoking small dead animals until they're jerky
Grabbing at swimming things for hours
Anything else is a bonus, but surviving is about where you can get food reliably.
Last time I was stuck in the bush I trapped tiny birds, used the meat as bait to catch yabbies and fish, atea bunch of nettles which was probably a waste of time and tried to charcoal filter pond water. In many respects it was less what I did and more what I didn't do, namely not running around in a panic till I got heat stroke
