> The pain, so unexpected and undeserved, had for some reason cleared away the cobwebs. I realized I didn’t hate the bottom bracket, I hated my life… My summer home, my schnitzels, my Fanta, my Veloteam.
> Nothing would ever change; nothing new could ever be expected. It had to end, and it did. Now in the dark world where I dwell, ugly things, and surprising things, and sometimes little wondrous things, spill out in me constantly, and I can count on nothing.

 >>/112654/
It's like the last tenant of the old archetype of never playing outside your neighborhood and never going to the big leagues, like the ol' Nigel Waterfield, Dagenham and Redbridge legend, played in League Two for tree seasons, skored a faking goal against Crystal Palace in FA Cup round of 32 in 1983, his name spoken with fondness, his photos pinned at the local pubs, his children out of wedlock alredy have their own grandchildren.

Very soul. Minus the dopage.

Finally pigged for a multitool, now my large sattlbag makes me almost immune to ride happenings, including a dumoulin which cannot be squeezed back until I get home.
I guess having an extra chain link would make me completely invulnerable but let's wait until there is one (1) siutation when I acktually need it.

 >>/112674/
Surely this is what it is going to be like.
Unpacked it, moved around the moving parts, made sure the 8 hex is just cover which hides a 6 hex - it is, threw it into the saddlebag and that is it, it is not seeing the light of day for I don't know how many months.

Did we pay attention for this for NERURKAR:
> Current injuries

> Out with fractured collarbone, fractured sternum, fractured vertebra(e), fractured rib(s), punctured lung (Hit by a driver while training)

 >>/112763/
> Isn't it fun to go pretty fast?
its the best, but only doable super early or maybe on the gravel (see >>/111837/)

even today at 6.30 in the morning there was already an ebiker who was scrolling tiktok or whatever and slowly creeped on my half of the road coming head on

 >>/112764/
Damn, that's such a shame. Here I have like 5 different long stretches of road / loops with 1 or 2 turns where I need to slow down, otherwise free to go as fast as I like with maybe 5 cars an hour tops. If I had an hour more to ride each time I'd have even more such roads. Seems like there's always pros and cons to places, here there's no real flats or hills, only constant rolling terrain, but at least the cagie situation is top notch.

 >>/112766/
> Simply too many tourists cloging the road.
i remember when i was last in slovenia couple years ago with all the "ACHTUNG KOLESARI" signs and millions of ciclists on the main road.
But when I lost the main road, suddenly no cars, no kolesars, only cows (specifically the roads around Poklujka)

 >>/112766/
That's a real shame, but yeah if there's so many tourists then I guess it's not fun to ride and probably even dangerous. The only real tourist attraction around here is the Finnish Archipelago which is very popular in the summertime for cyclists, motorcyclists, campers, bikepackers etc. It's the only trip around here I don't really like to ride because of the cars and tourists, especially since the road is very narrow in certain parts. Imagine riding here with hundreds of camper cars, slow going bikepackers and motorists.

Difference between NY and NJ is stark. NY has huge 5 meter wide bike lane, signs that remind drivers to not pass closely and share the road, well maintained, etc

Second you cross into jersey, bike line is replaced with another lane of cars, constant signs to ride single file all the way to the side, and drivers HATE you. Everyone driving 3000kg SUVs passing within a meter

 >>/112756/
yeah, they could do it in a decade, not tomorrow (some could do it tomorrow); but also, with how their race is structured, basically every day after the first two is an intense GC day without any of the easy transfer stages men's GTs have

Vuelta 2027 is basically free ROGLIC win

> DOPACAR not interested (won in 2026)
> VINGEGAARD not interested
> ALMEIDA washed
> GALL will ride Le Tour in 27
> SEIXAS will ride Le Tour only until retirement
etc etc

Doch die ersten Kräfte erreichten den Tunnel erst nach zwei Stunden und sieben Minuten – deutlich später als vorgesehen.

Looks about rite, only celery root instead of celery stem, we're not in Italy, almost no traditional recipes will use the stems.

Even among sprinters and classisc riders, almost no one is moving. Biggest transfer of the season might end up being Meeus or something.

Next year should be much more interesting, especially if there are teams scrambling for points.

 >>/112862/
well the tire is lightbulb shaped because the internal rim width is wider and closer to the external rim width
realistically its just makes the rim production cheaper because you need less molds so more €$ for the swines

And if you want cult hero climbers back you really would need to have smaller teams because let's be real, like carapaz has shown you need to like 2 riders or more dedicated to riding for you in the break to even get 3 minutes

> Alejandro Valverde: “Tadej Pogacar no es invencible, yo casi le gané el año de mi retirada con 42 años” Vingegaard ha confesado que ve imposible ganar ahora a Pogacar, pero Valverde cree que sí él casi lo logró, el danés no se tiene que dar por vencido

Efapelbros, I've just realised who the Anicolor killer is. He should become available just in time for next year's Volta. Just hang on for one more year, brighter times are SURELY on the horizon.

> Le Bert said he had met Coppi, whom Bobet admired for his "modern" techniques but refused to have anything to do with the Italian's suitcase of drugs. Bobet insisted he never took drugs. But the journalist and race organiser, Jean Leulliot, remembered a dinner organised by Jacques Goddet and Félix Lévitan, the organisers of the Tour de France, for the race's former winners. Leulliot wrote:

> One table attracted particular attention. Around it were Anquetil, Merckx and Bobet, 13 victories in the Tour between them. The conversation at the table was particularly lively and Louison Bobet was being challenged for saying that he had never taken the slightest drug or stimulant. He was obliged to admit that he had drunk the small bottles prepared for him by his soigneur at the time without knowing exactly what they contained. Which produced laughter from Jacques Anquetil and Eddy Merckx.

 >>/112994/
for the tour de suisse it's simply 10-15 minutes before tete de la course arrives. for the Giro stage in Switzerland, they just had the final rampa closed, but you could ride up your bike until 30 minutes before the riders arrived if you wanted, they are much more relaxed than the tour.
it's just the tour de france that does close the roads super early and restricts access. but I can't tell you what they do in Czech lands.

Actually it was kinda cool
Also cool to see all those HORDES of people around. All those little side exists to fields were crowded with parked cars, all little hills, if naked, were crowded with crowds.

About tomorrow's stage, it's going straight through our only national park and so there have been a lot of complaints from NGOs and the like. Stage is obviously still going ahead but apparently the plan is to go through the most sensitive parts with reduced number of cameras and with as few support cars as possible. So yeah, it could become a bizarre one.

I don't know half the people, most of them are MADE up. What the FUCK.

Bring me back to 89 Volta with 21 stages and 0 (ZERO) rest days. Or 60s-70s Volta with 14-18 stages, 4 or 5 being a+b stages, and a prologue also with 0 (ZERO) rest days.

When you look into it, this rest day thing is an import and goes against the traditional spirit of the Volta.

 >>/113190/
I asked rusbert the other day why he was posting tiz screenshots of the volta and he said that tiz was like 1 minute ahead of the official rtp stream.
I just tried it and it's not true for me, they are 200-300 meters behind.

At least you guys are still going to score a few GC points. I have fucking Afonss Silva who I was SURE would surprise in the passes and get a respectable 7th or 8th in GC.

And of course bloody Peña as well

 >>/113275/
they are not uncommon and not bad either but I would prefer to see more open mold stuff instead of the rather overpriced influencer brands 2bh
on the other hand I came across people on a seka and an incolor bike those are more based because they are genuinely well thought out products
not that I would ride any of that of coursh

Eh, at least while I did some dumb adjustments this Volta is not a total desaster. I'd like to keep Mesa at least.

That's some retard stuff. Approaching level of Pol-acks going up Himalaya in winter and demanding singing praises to all the retards who never got off the mountain.

Some threshold work on the TT bike today and some sweetspot. Good stuff, I can still do 2x20min at around 380W despite the positional disadvantage. I don't know how the legs are so good with little sleep and less training volume, but not complaining haha

> “We had been looking for a sprinter specifically for flat sprints for quite some time,” says Heijboer. “The more we delved into Fabio’s situation, the more convinced we became that there is still a lot of untapped potential. We believe we can create the right environment to bring that potential to the surface. At the same time, the fact that Fabio is joining our team now gives us the opportunity to get to work with him immediately, instead of waiting until next season.”

Cycling is our passion, but obviously there are much more important things. The eighth stage of the #VP26 has been suspended due to a terrible tragedy: the death of a rider, reportedly from NSN. The most beautiful sport in the world, and so often the toughest. It seems that near Ponte de Lima, an NSN rider who was lagging behind suffered a puncture and lost control of his bicycle. After being evacuated, the worst news has been confirmed.

the current status is that he has, sadly, not been in a state yet where he can be awakened - numerous surgeries have followed, the positive news is that medication is very slowly getting lowered in amount by the doctors, and that he is able to breathe by himself

i'm going back to france soon with a few of us who were present at that moment of him crashing & to keep in touch with his parents

 >>/113424/
speaking of old and senile last week on my morning commute route an old guy crashed his car into oncoming traffic and wiped out one or more guys commuting to one of the neighboring factories. I rode there just 40ish minutes before, why do they INSIST on driving and why do the old people always survive while their victims perish

 >>/113430/
It just seems to be very hard to let go and accept aging. My own grandpa only stopped driving after losing control on a downhill street for like 300 or 400 meters that goes into the main avenue of the town he lived in. Right after the accident, he said that he had no breaks, but unsurprisingly the repair shop said there was nothing wrong with those. By some miracle he managed to not hit anyone, another car or hurt himself.

people hate on having more technology in cars all the time but stuff like this wouldn’t happen with modern, strict protection systems (and don’t allow drivers to override them)
just ban all old shitboxes at this point

 >>/113479/
do it, its worth it. you watch it all the time on streams but seeing it live is something different. saw them at the tour of austria this year, it was over in like 25 seconds but that definitely was worth the 1.5h wait on the climb

Almost fell into the oversharing trap with anonberts with a lengthy cringy post, but almost.
Got shitfaced for the first time in a while.
Over the top laughs, mock fights, got my booze stolen probably by pal's girlfriend who was livid after midnight, inconsequential crash on a e-scooter while riding back at 3am.
Felt like good times.
Still going on a ride today.

Saturday features the penultimate stage from Paredes to Mondim de Basto, with the finish located on a Category 1 climb. Sunday’s final stage takes the peloton from Maia to Porto. “We are going ahead, but naturally in an adapted form,” states the organizer in a press release. “Saturday begins with a tribute to Finlay Tarling, in which the entire peloton and everyone else involved in our race will participate.”

Out of respect and in the spirit of mourning, the main sponsors and the organizers of the Tour of Portugal have agreed to cancel all other events surrounding the race during the final two days. The Tour Club and the advertising caravan will not take place. The race will go on. There will be a sporting competition, but no party. On Saturday, the peloton will ride with Finlay in our thoughts.”

it's a fun team for him but yeah they don't really have the backbone for the kind of race he wants to ride (he was at least blaming it on injuries in the press), but I wonder where he'd go... Red Bull and Lidl are stuffed, Ineos(?), Movistar also pretty weak, Visma would be hilarious but I'd kms myself

sand is the worst, there's one route in Marin going out to a lighthouse high up on a narrow stretch with 100m+ cliffs on either side and sand blowing across the road and I basically hold my breath going over those patches

yeah, the Pacific northwest is gorgeous, the Cascades and Olympic mountains are much, much, much prettier than the Rockies, which are honestly pretty ugly as mountains go — barren triangular peaks without cool rock formations, very dry

ceskatelevize is keep telling me that bohuzel nemame prava pro poskytovani tohoto obsahu na vasem uzemi. I bet those czech accents I left out are very important to the language and I accidental changed the meaning of the words.
but funnily enough I can simply choose a time spot in the past in the video player and then it lets me show the czech tour race. I bet bertaczek programmed this.

I kept the accents, as they are very important to the French language. and yes, I know what a VPN is.
