Turns out I made my MTB cassette kill, after switching the crank to 36 and getting a brand new chain from KMC.
It all works fine with no load, it all works fine while pedaling on the bigger cogs but I can't switch to the smallest cogs, they just make the chain skip like stupid, no hope of any adjoostment with the barrel.
So after careful consideration and telling Grok to think harder and make no mistakes, doing some other adjoostments along the way, it looks like a new tiny paypiggery was to be committed.

Well I have trialed the "Video" feature of Zwift Plus (it's free for Zwift subscribers for a week before I am accused of excessive paypiggery).

I did the Upper Bonette route. It looked okay on my TV, but I'm also used to slightly shitty picture using AppleTV. Apparently it looks worse the more high-def your output is. 

It really does feel quite lifeless. You can't steer, there's no sense of motion really. The camera for some reason is sort of off to the side to create a cinematic feel, but it just pointed to the barren slope on the side of the screen with basically no views of the alps during the ascent. You can't do group rides or races on the routes. Seems incredibly pointless right now. Maybe if they really flesh it out it might be worth doing instead of regular route, but right now, routes are a DOWNGRADE from Watopia despite the premium price.

Also I had a bit of a Bertacek situation during the climb. I updated my shifters (I use the Zwift Play controllers) and the left one wouldn't pair properly, so I couldn't downshift. I was stuck climbing the 10-12% sections at like 50 rpm

Huh, the more you know. But as far as I can tell, it's not discoverable at all and only accessible through the keyboard shortcut (which you'd only know after reading the online documentation). On the other hand, the old character map is still there and actually discoverable via the start menu.
