I wore a bandana instead of a cap on my ride. the bandana gave me +10 watts on every climb and Pantini smiled from above.
jokes a side, in the aero position the cap steals some of your field of vision and if you pop it up it might block the vents, but I have a vented helmet so that doesn't matter.

> very technical, extremely steep
grug really wants to ride this? just because the mountainbike rainbow jersey is the last one the he's missing (we leave out ITT here). I put the same question mark for Puck. she mogs her competition in terms of power, but she gets flats and doesn't ride the technical parts so good.
also kek at the UCI shilling blatantly for Shimano lol.

> Maryland Cycling Classic Debuts Historic Course for Men’s & Women’s Races

> The technical circuit course will test every aspect of the world class field from bike-handling skills with 28 turns to 550 yards of centuries-old cobblestones to two explosive climbs to a flat, fast final 1000 yards.

> “The old course was great, but we decided to move it into the city for a variety of reasons,” said Jim Birrell, the event’s race director, who manages the technical aspects of the race. “Baltimore is a city of great neighborhoods. We wanted to highlight Baltimore’s famous and beautiful waterfront while telling the story of the city’s rich history. It’s blending the old and new of one of America’s most diverse cities.”

the cobbles are good but man is it sad that burger cycling can't even have one proper pro road race in the whole country. Instead the biggest race is a city crit that goes by filming locations for THE WIRE (2002). grim stuff

> The 30-year-old Italian from Bardiani finished in the top ten three times in the Giro and attracted interest from several WorldTour teams, but has opted for Visma-Lease a Bike, with which he will replace Olav Kooij, who is moving to Decathlon Ag2R.
??????

> The Tour de France doesn't just produce great stories. Last night in Grenoble, near today's start town of Vif, a van carrying camera equipment belonging to the VRT was stolen, and their motorcycle is also missing.

> The thieves struck in the parking lot of the hotel where they were staying in Grenoble, in the middle of the night. When the team tried to leave for the start town of Vif in the morning, a half-hour drive away, they found smashed windows. Some of the camera equipment was gone.

> The motorcycle they were using to report on the race during the climb to the Col de la Loze was even completely missing.

bikes aren't good enough anymore

The live updates guy on feltet is still seething about Martinez' extremely sticky bottle and want him DQed. Does anyone have a webm of it because I wasn't paying attention when it happened?

> So Jonas Vingegaard didn't embarrass Tadej Pogacar. "I felt good, and so did the team. We had big plans and tried to attack early, but unfortunately I couldn't gain time on Tadej. The team did a great job, I want to thank them."

> Visma-Lease a Bike had isolated Pogacar on the Col de la Madeleine, but they let everyone back in. "There was no teamwork. So we just waited for our teammates and started riding at a faster pace. It felt like we were worth each other. Okay, he gained a few seconds at the end, but the Tour isn't over yet."

holy cope

> Martinez then rejoined the group and took the mountain points on the Glandon, ahead of Arensman, one of his rivals for the mountain classification. Martinez collected 20 points but lost eight of them. His total now stands at 72. This puts him third in the general classification, behind Jonas Vingegaard (89) and Tadej Pogacar (105). Vingegaard will wear the mountain jersey on Friday, as Pogacar is already wearing the yellow jersey.

cheat and take 20 points, lose 8 as punishment, I call that a good deal

 >>/30998/
yes, they really put too much emphasis on caring about the win and nothing else. Niermann said multiple times that jonas doesn't care if he's 2nd or 4th only the win matters but they don't race like that, at most they sacrifice stage wins for hjaelpers

 >>/30999/
speaking of that doper

> "We tried everything today, but in the end, Tadej was the strongest again," Head of Racing Grischa Niermann told our camera. "If you want to gain back four minutes, you have to do it earlier in the stage and not wait for the final climb. We knew the chances weren't very high, but we just had to try, and we did."

> The Dutch team opened up the race as early as the Col de la Madeleine. "I didn't get the impression he was about to crack, but we have a plan and we're going to stick with it. You can't say after two minutes: 'We're quitting now.'"
> In the valley after that climb, Vingegaard and Matteo Jorgenson briefly refused to continue riding with Pogacar. No one wanted to ride anymore. We weren't going to continue with Pogacar on our wheel. It was better for us that the rest came back. At the end, the Col de la Madeleine wasn't a good place to attack anyway, except in the final five kilometers. It's clear that Jonas was going to try again, but you can't close the gap by four minutes there. That's why he waited until the final two kilometers of the stage.

 >>/31002/
This makes no sense. First he says they had to attack early which sounds true to me. But then he goes on to say that afterwards they didn't want to keep attacking and they had to wait for the final 2km to do anything. Why bother with all the early pressure if it's supposedly impossible to attack until the very end?

hello kijkers, please buy shimano and canyon bikes. after shimano, canyon is using puck as well to release a video. why can't they portrait avocado for a change for the important rusbert audience?
girl team sponsors really bank on the content strategy with product placement.

The people around him are part of the problem too, instead of talking him down the hype him up like no tomorrow.
Dude was shittalking Onley on the 2nd restday and suddenly he has a broken rib, normal people wouldn't act like that they would just say hey I had a shit prep and I'll see where I end up.

 >>/31024/
why was this not discussed at literally any point before this? didn't they interview his trainer multiple times this tour? why didn't they say this when he dropped out?

he's still harping on that loss of winter preparation too. how is it this hard to accept that maybe your not literally the best runner in the world, but instead just the best flat TT'er and one of the best classics riders. woe is remco

https://www.reuters.com/sports/war-hidden-motors-goes-undercover-2025-07-23/

> War on hidden motors goes undercover

> Now, the UCI is borrowing tactics from law enforcement – building confidential sources, mapping risk profiles and monitoring bike changes in real time – to stay ahead in what officials call a technological arms race.

> "It's a bit of a technological arms race. Components are getting lighter, smaller. Easier to conceal, which is harder to detect," Raudenski said.
> "And so, trying to stay ahead of what's potentially possible is always a challenge."

this is so silly

> The discovery of an outbreak of contagious nodular dermatitis affecting cattle in a herd located specifically in the Col des Saisies has necessitated the culling of the animals. In light of the distress experienced by the affected farmers and in order to preserve the smooth running of the race, it has been decided, in agreement with the relevant authorities, to modify the route of Stage 19 (Albertville–La Plagne) and to avoid the ascent to the col des Saisies.
if you have a herd of life stock and send them to the butchery, where's the distress of dead animals? they will get paid out by the government and just get new cows.

was surprised that it wasn't your typical tour de mathieu where he did nothing noteworthy (for your velogame team) as he's only there to sell Canyon bikes, but he actually was good old grug. but with his DNS it still counts as yet another tour failure.

Wout is going to get worse every year but he will probably continue on until 39, always trying to get that RVV / P-R win that will never happen. What else is he going to do, sit at home with some kids who hate him? 10 more years of humiliations

> It's becoming increasingly problematic," says Richard Plugge, CEO of Visma-Lease a Bike. "It's becoming increasingly dangerous for riders, as was the case during the reconnaissance of the time trial in the Pyrenees."
> Now the riders have to descend among people on bikes and cars that aren't used to it. You should be able to keep the people and tourists at the top as long as possible."
> Or you charge 1 or 5 euros to go up the mountain. Then far fewer will come. A small contribution will leave a whole group at home

Kek, plugge back at it

Mebert does. Seems like a good meta, countless times have I thought I had to pinchazo it - I didn't.
And it was often some dodgy rocks, pointy curbs or gravel roads.
These S-Works Hell of the North score below average on that tire test site so I think the width hjaelps a lot.

Reading further into the article about Bora, they are really harsh with Denk and the treatment of the former Bora riders like the next remco (looks like he was right about cian being a fraud), emu, chessman, ACKermann and lennergy as he promised them starts at grand tours but then replaced them last minute.

 >>/31124/
I was joking.
> where is the announcement on 4chan
I don't know. I haven't opened 4chan for months. Last time I checked on it it was down when you guys moved here.
The UK can't enact laws that binds everyone globally. If they don't want users to use sites that don't have that surveillance thingy they are welcomed to block those sites at British ISPs how Roskomnadzor do it in Russia.
Sometimes EU does some regulations that changes the behaviour for large tech companies, like they did with the replaceable battery stuff in smartphones. Or GDPR. But EU makes economic decisions, and for example I saw American websites complying to GDPR and add that insane cookie warning, blocking European IPs, or just not giving a fuck at all.

 >>/31147/
Yes, but on what bike? Don't think they will stay on spesh-works with memco gone. If they are lucky they get Scott, if not it's Bianchi, Cube or Orbea (I guess wanty-intermarché-lotto-circus will stay on Cubes).

people on the internet suck specialized off like they are getting paid to do so but its just not an aero bike

> If Evenepoel moves to Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, where Specialized is already the bike sponsor, there's talk of the American bike brand terminating its contract with the Belgian team until 2027. For the time being, Soudal Quick-Step still assumes Specialized will stay. This is also being marketed to the riders joining the team in 2026. It's certain that CEO Jurgen Foré won't agree to Evenepoel's departure if it means he'll be left without a good bike sponsor.

> Scott's name has been around for a while. That brand currently sponsors Team Q36.5. The owner of the clothing brand Q36.5 is also the owner of Pinarello, whose contract with Ineos-Grenadiers expires after this season. With Dave Brailsford's return to the management of Ineos-Grenadiers, extending the partnership with Pinarello suddenly seems a viable option. So what will Scott do?

> With the Taiwanese Merida, one of the world's largest bicycle brands is becoming available. According to our information, Bahrain-Victorious will be riding Bianchi in 2026, rather than Merida. Will Merida join the fray and help resolve the issue? A small detail: Merida owns 35 percent of Specialized's shares.

> Then, according to Dumoulin, things went tactically wrong again on the final climb of the Col de la Loze. “They started riding with Simon Yates and Sepp Kuss at the front of the favorites group, but for what? Not for the stage, because he was long gone. But also not with a rush to prepare for an attack from Vingegaard, so you can't blame yourself. They simply didn't play it all or nothing. They rode leisurely up the climb, and UAE was even able to take over.”

> “When you start the stage with such strong words and you ride a final climb at a pace slower than the leader, you can't say it was all or nothing. Even if the chance was very small,” concludes the former Tour runner-up. “Perhaps we have to conclude that Vingegaard didn't have the legs. Especially when you see that small attack just before the finish, there wasn't much to it.”

are we sure the kiwigod doesn't post here, he's really /ourguy/

In south of france I don't see a lot of aero atrocities because it's a boomer hobby and for them it's too much. Lots of Bianchi and colnago. I've witnessed peak boomerism a couple of months back when one of my friend had to stop at the shop to fix his di2 and walked out of the shop with a colnago c68

 >>/31167/
 >>/31170/
I don't see much aero bikes around either but brands haven't been pushing the full on aero bikes the past couple years either, its only now making a comeback
Aeroads are also the common aero bike here, I had one as well. But much more common are the middle of the road frames bike from Rose, specialized, for some reason factor and focus. Cervelo and Cube are also not uncommon but I haven't seen either brands aero frame.

I think it's got something to do with the fast roads here, or then my setup is just really fast and aero haha. Here I did 5x3min harder but then also all the recoveries were 20min at around 170W, and then the final 3h was under 200W and still I ended up averaging 30km/h. This had something like 85% gravel and some pavement. My tyres are the 2.1 Thunder Burts which are pretty much the fastest gravel tyres so that sure helps, but I don't consider myself that aero, being tall with long legs.

WADA needs to step in and tell UAE to show some decency if they don't want to get exposed. Even jobber races for the shitter teams to compete in get a fully juiced up UAE squad that dominates the race easily.
At least Sky and Jumbo left something for the other teams to fight over when they were the best.

 >>/31216/
The frame was 800e shipped to Finland, the wheels 900e, group assorted from kleinanzeigen something like 900e total, and then the stem, handlebar, seatpost from Aliexpress for cheap. I'd guess a total of just over 3000e is pretty close, I didn't keep count.

 >>/31226/
I think it's hard to compare because so few frames exist with good tyre clearance, but for example the Ridley Astr with full Rival AXS and worse/heavier parts is 5000e here. My build is a mix of Red, Force and Rival parts (Red cranks, otherwise force/rival). So yeah much cheaper. In the US the Lauf Seigla is a good comparable bike though and it's pretty cheap there, but it's not available in Europe.
