extremely humiliating experience today. had TWO flats while riding gravel, both on my rear tyre, both massive gashes that that weren't patchable. was not able to fix the second one because who the fuck carries two spares. had to phone a friend to pick me up by the roadside. my day is ruined and the psychic pain this caused me is beyond words

 >>/33421/
zonder foto [threw them out already]. both were long slash-like cuts, very thin and long. very odd all around, second flat was around ~5 mins after the first one so i'm assuming its something in/about the wheel that's causing it due to how similar the issue was in both tyres. didnt see anything on initial inspection but going to replace the rim tape and take a closer look later.

I remember Klaas LODEWYCK as a runner. He was one of those buddies/minions of Philippe GILBERT, who was always on the team with him despite doing nothing. Like Sagan had Bodnar and Oss. And now he is BACK. Leeching off of a certain Remco EVENEPOEL. How do these people have any selfrespect

Anyway, about Gilbert. I know his "special friend" at first was Delage. Was with him at FDJ for four years and then transferred with him to Lotto. After two years they broke up and in 2011 Delage went back to FDJ. Then suddenly Klaas Lodewyck shows up at Lotto in 2011, despite being a Topsport Vlaanderen shitter who never did anything before that. The next year Gilbert takes Lodewyck with him to BMC and they stay together for four years, until he retires and becomes sports director. He follows Gilbert to QS in 2019, but I guess the love may have been over a bit then. In 2019 a certain Remco EVENEPOEL shows up at QS and the next year Gilbert leaves for Lotto. Klaas and Remco are now happily together ever since. This concludes my investigation.

> I also had to get used to the long climbs again, so I bought a house in Andorra to get used to it. And finally, I've been doing more specific training to improve my climbing. Ultimately, it's all about delivering power, but I want to do everything right.

“Cyrille Guimard, Fignon's team manager, was riding behind me. And on the final climb, he could see from LeMond's behavior that he was no longer quite okay and was shaking a little.”

LeMond was struggling to keep up with the pace, and Guimard, who had been the American's team manager for years, noticed this and wanted to let Fignon know. But De Cauwer put a stop to that.

Nowadays, a team manager would simply say this into the rider's earpiece, but they didn't have those back then. “And I didn't let Guimard pass. There's always a huge crowd on Alpe d'Huez, so you really have to move aside to let someone pass with a car.”

“At one point, Guimard starts honking his horn and making noise, and immediately you hear on the race radio: ‘ADR, let Mr. Guimard pass’. But I pretend I don't hear it.”

“I held him back for about a kilometer, which is almost 10 minutes uphill. It was really bumper to bumper: bam, bam. But I just stopped him and cut him off a few times.”

That way, Guimard can't immediately inform Fignon. “In the end, I have to let him pass and he catches up with Fignon. Guimard tells his team leader to attack and LeMond has no answer and has to let go.”

Today's SENSATIONAL and unexpected (to me) result at the Clasica San Sebastian means it's time for another exciting /WORLD TOUR WINE/ !!

We have been in these parts before in the Itzulia Basque Country, in the same appellation - Getariako Txakolina. This area is known for light-bodied, slightly effervescent wines made from indigenous grapes unknown elsewhere. It is just down the coast to the west from Donostia-San Sebastian. This is a blend of Hondarrabi Beltza and Hondarrabi Zuri.

Lasalde Elkartea "Balea" Txakoli Rose ($19)

Pours a light salmon with tiny amount of gas. The nose is saline, with white peach and light lime. The palate is dry and freshly acidic, no real tannin to speak of.

This is a bit more round and balanced than the searingly-acidic Txakoli white made from 100% Hondarrabi Zuri from Itzulia Basque Country. Good summer food wine. Not bad.

Kinda want to see myself too, but I would like to be a tram ride, not the longest possible train ride (no seats for intercity) and then rush to catch the tram and try to not miss too much.
Guess that solves it, too old for this shit.

Intervista BONDAR - MAJKA.

> tl;dw, tl:dunderstand this speak:
> majka decided this is his last season in january
> team still wanted to prolong him for two years
> had some afterthoughts after giro
> proud of his career, winning tours with berto, tadej
> family is paramount
> last race will be lombardia

These mfers have the same nose.

 >>/33948/
His usual bullshit speak, he eyes two stages and if it goes fine we will see - usually he is straightforward and bragging on how he is coming to win and he has the best legs.
Don't know, me, perhaps the last pick of him would be appropriate but he is also 12. But also there is little competition, even if he is not winning (he is not) then unless he completely gives up - this is a decent pick.

One of my Instagram thirst traps is some Irish girl named Niamh. She is doing some type of PhD in biochemistry or something so some of her pictures are just a dowdy looking woman in a white coat and glasses, and then she goes to raves on the weekend with 10/10 body avec seins massifs

Yes well. Felt a very small but clear bonking on my arse with the wheelturn, got some adjustments on the spokes but I still had this little point where there's a clear tire sink happening.
Why. Is it because I am still a fatarse? These tires are not even a year old.

 >>/34073/
This is just one way it popped out while there is a cross pattern visible every 5cms from which another pop is going to happen soon anyways.
This is prime paypig territory, I have just seen a guy on a black MTB with dark brown sidewalls. SICK. Buying them immediately, after a research of course.
 >>/34075/
Rode it both slightly underinflated and inflated but well below the tire limit. Maybe I am simply too fat and should not be leaning on this bike at all.

 >>/34073/
BUT. Until my tires arrive I am thinking about deflating the wheel, just pushing a piece of patch/reinforced cloth there - without taking off anything, just sticking it in the hole and hopefully placing in roughly evenly - and then reinflating the wheel.

 >>/34082/
It fucking worked! The buldge is there, and there are multiple small cuts along other creases that will have the inner tube pop out through very soon but a piece of Filz went in there and whala, no inner tube seeping through, waiting for the smallest of pinches.

 >>/34085/
Yes, it is just to roll me to me mum tomorrow and along the bikepaths of Oppeln O.S. until the new tires arrive.
No offroading or 30km rides because there is a big crevaison incoming, I want to be able to roll home like on a kick scooter when it happens.

in fact you SHOULD pick the entire Petrolike team. they will make W52 look like clergymen

> Brennan shares that confidence. The 19-year-old Brit, who already made a big impression in his first season with the WorldTour team, will be fully committed to supporting Kooij. "I'm looking forward to racing with Olav. He has proven himself to be one of the best sprinters in the world in recent years, so I'm sure I can learn a lot from him."

 >>/34125/
But he will ride for KOOIJ and these finishes are hardly his forte.
He is still obviously a point winning pick but not a 500-600, and that's what you want from a 14 pointer in a week race.
Unless he is obviously superhuman, will not be pulling KOOIJ on that 4 stage and all those LBL tier stages will not drain him.

I've replaced biking by running and hiking for a week now and my feet are completely dead. I guess I need to add some weekly running to my routine because this is not sustainable

Speaking of Poland, the biggest sporting event of the summer, as in the Polish summer national championship in ski jumping, was this weekend. Kamil Stoch won ahead of Alexander Zniszczol and Dawid Kubacki. Wishing all the best for Kamil this next season which will be his last.

 >>/34190/
Looking forward to this generations retirements, the post Małysz guys a great run but this is it, then let the lean years come and then let a new Stoch happen in 10 years when I will start getting old.
I haven't watch this silly sport in years but I will tune in after all these years if this happens.

 >>/34203/
I think Richietello will do very fine despite the obvious lack of his favorite parcours, good enough to stay or lose very little on hilly stages, more than enough to stay on short MtFs. Otherwise I am fucked but I didn't fink Bitcher-Flak will do very good. My season is in the muck anyways, on the other hand.

> the team is GC focused, a humble 22 points is all that is necessary today. the strategy of picking no sprinters at all will pay off in the long run. VOISARD will surprise in the passo and HAYTER will deliver and everything will be all right. everything going according to plan, the counterattack into silesia will be a masterstroke.

 >>/34265/
I did like his show too in its infancy when he was just telling war stories, but he's not a color commentator despite ESPN desperately trying to make him one. he's a black hole on College Gameday and i've got to the point simply hearing his voice is grating to me.

 >>/34273/
It was a very fun listen for an Eastern Euro basically his age, I always had a guy of this sort around, the high energy friends with everyone extrovert who just hooks you up with everyone because you're not that great with people.
And AJ fucking Hawk, I didn't know if this whole person is a one big spiel or not for months. Don't know if there is more of a my guy guy than AJ Hawk.

Anyway, I'm back, a feast for the Z2 gods
I forgot how much I enjoy these late evening summer rides when cages are already asleep in their cucksheds.
Kinda difficult towards the end as I rawdogged the ride without food, not even a pesky protein bar.

Which reminds me I haven't seen finnbert posting in a while unless I'm blind

Dzień dobry and welcome to another WT stage race and another round of sensational /WORLD TOUR WINE/ (bier) !!

Poland is obviously a vodka and beer country, so we will be taking a brief hiatus from wine after so many good bottles recently. This is BIG news for the /cyc/ office expense account.

Today's beer is from Miroslaw, a small town 150km north of today's stage between Wroclaw and Wieliczka.

Komes Baltic Porter ($6.50)

This is a Baltic Porter, which is a smooth, dark, highly-alcoholic lager made with darkly roasted malt. This is a style of beer that originated in the Baltic states, copying the style from Imperial stouts of English origin. It is one of the most popular dark beers of Polish breweries. Interestingly, this one has a funny little guide on the back telling you how the flavor changes if it is aged, but there is no obvious indication of when this bottle was brewed, so it's not very helpful.

Pours dark brown with auburn higlights. The foam has a compact mousse, not much head. The nose is sweet, with roasty caramel and raisin, perhaps light oak? The palate has a lovely mouthfeel with chocolate, coffee, and dark cooked fruit with a dry, hoppy finish. Despite all the rich flavors, the body is only medium and there is a bitter, hoppy finish that keeps it balanced. It is opening nicely in the glass. The 9% alcohol is totally hidden on the palate.

Really good...definitely light on it's feet for a booze bomb porter.
