This might sound contradictory, since Cyberpunk is a highly political sci-fi genre associated with left wing anarchism and fighting against megacorp authority.

However, if the punk wins, he is no longer a punk anymore. If he wins and achieves anarcho-communism, then the megacorps are destroyed, and so to his punk status, as he now has nothing to rebel against. The struggle that defines him as a punk has ceased to be, rendering his identity hollow.

Therefore, an actual cyberpunk movement would have to be pro-capitalism, and pro-dystopia, since without the two you do not have technological authoritarianism driven by megacorps. A cyberpunk ideology cannot be anarcho-communist, because it cannot conceive of an end of history. A cyberpunk ideology would seek struggle itself, and envision history as a ceaseless battle between proletariat and bourgeoisie, something quite different from the communist dialectical path to final freedom.

In this way, the cyberpunk is like the fascist, a nemesis of his. The fascist fights to defeat his enemies in war, but not because he hates war; he loves war and sees it as redemptive, and without war, the fascist could not exist.

Without class struggle, the punk cannot exist. Only by embracing struggle itself as being the goal itself can a punk ideology be fully cohesive.

The struggle against authority is to be fought seriously as if you were trying to win, but the struggle is seen as a goal unto itself. There is no end of history for the punk.

Pro-capitalist here is not understood to be pro-capitalists, referring to individual bourgeoisie, but to be understood in a perverse way, referring to the system itself.

And funnily enough, those best suited to win conflicts are those who enjoy conflict, and therefore undertake in them with gusto and without fear to hold them back.
Congratulations, you've discovered that the allure of cyberpunk is the desperate heroism of corrupted goodwill in the face of monolithic evil. It seems however that you can only imagine the stylish twist on ancient Greek tragedy from the perspective of a Marxist, which is perturbing to say the least.

LOL no, you normalfag. I bet you also get triggered by shitposting and want it to stop, instead of just enjoying the smell of sewage in the morning.

Let's be honest, a true ending is that of 1984. The 'hero' fails and the world is still shit.

Sounds like Frederich Brennan with 4chan :^)
"cyberpunk" doesnt fight the megacorp system, is actually more like living under the capitalism using his best tech without their permission and for the things they're made against.
cyberpunk dystopia is full anarchocapitalism and anarchoindividualism

This, however I don't agree with him saying that Cyberpunk is all encompassing of these two. Since some works are commie as fug. However the works I enjoy the most are AnarchoCap and AnarchoSmallGov.
I think it's safe to say that cyberpunk is generally anarchist and yes, anarchism is anti-capitalist (even market anarchism), just not anti-capitalist in the Marxist sense, which seems to be the prefered ideology of the OP.
You hit on a good point - when one's identity is defined by rebellion against the greater system, the downfall of the very adversarial system is the downfall of oneself.

The punk must know they will never win, because even if they succeed in tearing down one group, another will fill its place, even if that other the punk himself.

Does that mean the punk must be pro-capitalist? In a way. The punk only knows how to survive in the capitalist/megacorp system's periphery or in total anarchy. The punk thrives on the periphery, survives in anarchy, and withers within the system.

The punk is a parasite on the system, and the system is an especially resilient animal. Without the system of megacorps, the punk cannot thrive, it will starve

FUCK YOU

Being a punk is like shitting on a brand-new white carpet. Its a political statement against the system. Why? Because FUCK YOU, that's why. Whenever the old system is gone there will be a new system to rebel against, or even to rebel against there being no system. The act of being a punk is the expression of contempt. That is all there is to it. The deeper meaning is for philosophers, for now it is just enough to shit everywhere and enjoy watching you deal with the mess. WEBM related.
